Lana graduated with her degree in Occupational Therapy from Dalhousie University. As an experienced therapist, she has had the privilege of supporting adults across a wide variety of settings, including hospital-based mental health services, acute-care, geriatric assessment, restorative care, palliative care, home care, and long-term care. For over 20 years, she has been focusing on community-based practice, providing personalized care through home visits.
Lana takes a gentle, practical, and holistic approach to therapy. She meets her clients where they are in their lives and works with them to identify their strengths, challenges, and goals. This collaboration is what Lana believes helps patients to reengage in the activities that matter most to them. By providing care within the client’s home and community, she gains valuable insight into their daily routines and environment, allowing her to offer meaningful, individualized support that promotes independence and well-being.
Her practice is grounded in evidence-based care guided by the bio-psycho-social model, emphasizing the importance of treating the whole person. Lana values trust and connection, and she listens deeply to her clients’ stories, values, and preferences to provide respectful and effective care.
She has developed experience in mental health, chronic pain, chronic progressive conditions, orthopaedics, home safety assessments, falls prevention, equipment/assistive devices recommendations, and home modifications. Lana is especially passionate about helping individuals manage conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain. She also has a strong interest in supporting people through life transitions, including retirement, healthy aging, and finding renewed purpose and joy in daily living.
Lana is a provider for Veterans Affairs, a certified PGAP provider (Progressive Goal Attainment Program), a certified Urban Poling instructor (walking poles), and has training and certification in administering the MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment). She regularly participates in ongoing learning.
Outside of her professional role, Lana is married and the mother of 2 adult sons. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, gardening, travelling, walking, cross-country skiing, and reading.
